NEW BUILDING CONSTRUCTION STORY On December 23, 2009, Providence Bible Church completed the construction of a new church facility on Greens Corner Road in Culpeper. The Church Leadership carefully planned the new facility to provide a building that is sufficient for our current needs but with the capability to expand as our needs grow and as resources become available. We were blessed with sufficient funds to permit us to construct this new building debt free. What follows on this web page are the progress reports and pictures that were captured during the approximately one year construction phase for the facility.
Latest Update is posted at the top December 23, 2009 Update - Final Entry On Tuesday, December 22, 2009, PBC was granted its Occupancy Permit (OP) after the completion of an inspection by Culpeper County. The final outstanding item, the replacement of a valve in the sprinkler system, had been completed a couple days prior. The snowy weather had delayed the inspection but it was God's timing for PBC to occupy its beautiful new facility. No Pictures December 16, 2009 Update OUTSIDE: The final grading around the septic tank and approval by the zoning people on the temporary solution to the issues with the bio-pits are the only items remaining. INSIDE: All carpeting has been placed and the wood grain flooring has been completed in the hallways. The final coat of paint has been finished throughout the building and all that remains is touch up. We are negotiating the carpeting on the portable stage area. This was an extra per our contract. The main gym floor and border has been placed and the lines for the courts will be done this week. The new target date for securing our Occupancy Permit (OP) is now 12/18/09. There is a very good chance that we could schedule a Christmas Eve service in the new building. As soon as we get the OP, we will plan dates for our move. No Pictures December 9, 2009 Update OUTSIDE: The main elements of the landscaping have been completed. A lighted PBC sign is being fabricated and will be placed near the street. Final grading in the back of the building will need to wait until we get some dry weather. INSIDE: All carpeting has been placed and the wood grain flooring has been completed in the hallways. All ceiling tiles have been placed. The final coat of paint is now being applied in the Worship wing of the building. The main gym floor has been placed and the blue border should be finished by Friday (12/11). Our request for a temporary occupancy for the Worship wing of the building was denied by the County. Their requirement is for us to get occupancy for the entire building. We are still shooting for 12/14 as the date to get the occupancy permit (OP). As soon as we get a date for the OP, we will plan dates for our move and for the first service in the new building (which now looks like it would be on January 10, 2010). No Pictures December 2, 2009 Update OUTSIDE: All the paving is completed. The main landscaping around the front and sides of the building is beautiful - including the islands in the parking lot. More plants will be placed in the bio-pits as soon as we address the drainage problem that exists in them. A lighted PBC sign is being fabricated which will be placed near the street. Final grading in the back of the building will need to wait until we get some dry weather. INSIDE: The HVAC units are all operational. Flooring started yesterday, Wednesday, 12/2. The final coat of paint will be applied as soon as the ceiling tiles have been installed and the flooring has been completed. Ceiling grid has been completed throughout the building and placement of tiles is underway. The countertops for the kitchen were installed yesterday. We are now shooting for 12/14 as the date for an occupancy permit and to hold our first full service in the building the first week in January 2010. New Building - November 29, 2009 November 25, 2009 Update OUTSIDE: All the paving is scheduled to be completed today (11/25) around noon. Since it needs to cure for at least 24 hours before handling traffic, no one will be allowed to drive on it until Friday. The main landscaping around the front and side of the building is now finished, but there is still more to come at the entrance. A lighted PBC sign is being fabricated which will be placed out near the road. INSIDE: The HVAC units are now operational. Flooring will start on Monday, 11/30. Painters have a lot of touch up to do (including adjusting the paint in the kitchen). They plan to start the final coat when the ceiling tiles and flooring have been completed. Ceiling grid work has been completed throughout the building (including the Worship Center) and tile placements are underway. The countertops for the kitchen and bathroom will be delivered and installed on Friday. With all factors taken into account, it now appears that we can shoot for 12/13/09 as our occupancy date, and probably have our first full service in the building the first week in January of 2010. No Pictures November 11, 2009 Update OUTSIDE: If you have not gone to the new site to see the landscaping work, you are missing a treat. This week (weather permitting) nearly all the shrubs, flowers, and other plantings will be completed. All water, gas, and septic tanks will be buried. “Bio pits” for water run off have been completed. Preliminary parking lot grading work is finished and we are shooting to have asphalt placed by the 15th. INSIDE: The painters have now completed the second coat of paint throughout the building. Ceiling grid work is up in the halls, offices, and class rooms and they started on the Worship Center. The power is on and many lights have been placed in the new grid work. Pray that the HVAC units come in by 11/13/09. The delay in their delivery is now causing day-to-day slips in the overall schedule. Our new target date for occupancy is now 12/13/09. November 8, 2009 Update OUTSIDE:

Sidewalks were started and will be finished on Thursday (10/22). Flower beds were excavated and top soil was placed in them. We continue to shoot for a 12/6/09 occupancy date. No pictures October 14, 2009 Update God continues to meet our every need regarding the new facilities. Drywall work should be finished by Friday (10/16) and painting should start next week. The sound booth frame work was installed this week, and the basketball goals were delivered today. Contracts have been secured for the flooring, ceiling tiles, kitchen appliances, cabinets, and counter tops. Drainage ditches are being placed today and tomorrow to take roof water away from the building and the parking lot (to minimize ice build up in the winter). Praise God that we are still on track to have all the requested work done within the financial commitments that the congregation approved back in February. We are shooting for a12/6/09 occupancy. We are starting the process to obtain building permits for foundation plans now and will hopefully be pouring concrete footers in the near future.
